Hi, my name is Saanvi and I am a cabinet member for the 2025 Oregon Kid Governor Program. I can’t believe I’m already writing my last blog!
I became a cabinet member on my platform- “Reducing homelessness and providing basic amenities to those in need”. To tackle my issue I made a plan called 3Cs’. The first C stands for Creating Awareness, the second is Connect and Collaborate, and the last one is Call for Action.
This year helped me meet people, build up my confidence, learn life long skills, and most of all become a better leader. During this past year, I organized four supply drives to help homeless youth and gathered many rich and incredible experiences to cherish and network and collaborate which included –
- Speaking at my school boar
- Meeting with the school superintendent to organize a supply drive.
- Presenting at my Youth City Council.
- Presenting at City council.
- Meeting senator Janeen Sollman
- Collaborating with local businesses and with kids in a local club to organize more supply drives.
Two lessons I’ve truly experienced and carry with me are words I’ve heard from many leaders: “If you want to go fast, go alone; if you want to go far, go together,” and “It takes a whole village.” Although my term comes to an end as a cabinet member, it really is beginning and I won’t stop. Instead, I will keep thriving to reduce homelessness and make our community a better place. It truly has been an honor to serve you all!
